Conversion loom required????

Post by mbonner02 »

I've never put an aftermarket Mac styled CD player in a vauxhall before always just used original but I've heard that a special adaptor is needed before it can clip from the CD players loom to standard vauxhall loom. Is this the case? I've seen a few of you have got CD players in so hoping you can help before I commit to anything. Cheers

The ISO connector should be the same as the vauxhall plug
So it should be plug and play

Ah right just I've seen and heart about vauxhall adapters mainly when I had my veccy b. Just been out to have a look and on the standard loom there's 3 sockets whereas obviously on a CD player there's only 2pligs from its loom it comes with?...

ISO ADAPTOR PC2-04-4

Sure it's that one. That's what I had in my phone from mine over a year ago ha.

You need an aerial adaptor too.

Probably 10/15 for both bud

Yeah just looked on Amazon at it. It's only got 2plugs though whereas the vauxhall loom in mine has 3 any ideas? It's got me baffled haha

All the conversion lead changes is it swaps the perm live and ignition
Live over
You can do that yourself and save yourself money
The 3rd plug is for the date and time display

If I did what I originally wanted to do and bought a cdr 500 off ebay which is obviously a direct plug in with the 3plugs will I need get a code or should it work straight away. I remember when I had my vectra b it didn't come with the original cdr500 so I bought one off gumtree and it needed the code which it luckily came with that time? I f**k hate electrics

You need a code for any original radio/cd player

The 2 plugs to 3 plugs isn't an issue because the block from the cd player only fits in a certain way so you can't get it wrong, and as coupe said save your money and swap the red and yellow wires, they come with bullet crimps so it's a simple 10 second job
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

I'm going to just keep it simple and original and do my original cdr500 stereo now I know it's a straight job mate. I like the standard look of them when their fitted

One of the plugs mate is for the display on the clocks for original gm stereos as they didn't have a display and the other two are for power and speakers as coupe says it will fit the new iso connectors
If it ain't green and black send it back :D
