So I'm going to do an oil change and was just wondering which oil is best. It's a c16xe engine (1.6 16v b gsi) cheers

I use 15w40 but 10w40 is recommended.

Well just ordered these. Can't wait to get these squeezed in!!! Anyone ever used a 1.7dti stubby flywheel the old owner who used to have this when it used to be a 2.0 8v used this flywheel and I'm thinking about doing the same for the solidness and reliability And changing from a 1.0 box to a 1.4 or to the original 1.6 but I like the feeling of the 1.0 it's just rapid with having this gearing ratio. Unsure

You'd be aswell buying some arp head bolts now your going to be running higher comp,

I'd imagine you'll be over 140 brake once the timing is set

For gearbox vauxhall made gearboxs that spin faster than the 1.0 and there close ratio so it'll be the same felling but putting the power to better use
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

Ahh so just stick with this one you rekon? Yeah I've got the bolts my mate had them in his garage from an old u completed project not. Ad at £20 lol. I want to get it on the rollers because it's already putting a canny bit out it leaves a normal redtop behind and off the mark at the lights it'll dust a scooby until about 50-55mph until they get boost so I can't wait to get even more lol. I rekon this will be the final engine mods it's already got enough. I want to focus on aesthetics after these are installed just need to finish getting it stripped out

Plus with me using these diablous vernier pullies they give you the extra option of being able to adjust the timing tiny amounts to what works best think there's about 15mm play with them to adjust. Great addition haha

Dbilis verniers should give 12 deg each way from tdc,

What kind of compression you going for out of interest? The c16xe is already 10.5:1, that's already on the limit of needing upgraded internals

I'd imagine you'll need to retard the timing abit so it doesn't implode

Yeah there's a few things I'm changing inside. Those rods and bolts are the start. I'm not going for stupid ratios of compression I'm going to wait till all the gear comes and see what the score is. The high lift vx performance cams that are in atm may need to be reprofiled too due so they can help the internals cope with the extra pressure there's a good engineering workshop round my way that can do that. He's also going to listen and rebalance the crank. Got some lovely new shell bearings that came with the new bolts off my mate. I really wanted a c20let but I'm happy with this atm plus a decent let engine is so hard to find nowadays. Trying to find some strengthened valve springs that I can add in while engine is being built back up so if you know anywhere it would be appreciated lol

Just checked the info with them and yes you were right atm it's 10:5:1 and these Pistons take it to 11:5:1. Not massive numbers but all improv,Mets and upgrades will benefit it and will be felt and noticed

11.5:1 should be fine with a nice kick of power aswell :)
