Did some small bits tonight - nothing too serious

Fitted two fire extinguishers where they would be easy to reach

Put stickers

Then just took everything out that doesn't need to be in the car. Can't keep myself from just standing and looking at it haha

First track day done and dusted.

Started off rather poorly - as I pulled the car off the trailer the bumper caught on the ramp and broke. Drat...

Made a quick fix so it looks half presentable and doesn't flap around, then got onto the track after the marshals managed clean up all the litres of oil dropped on the track by a 928.

Car behaved really well, until I noticed the steering wheel suddenly sat skew and the car was pulling left. Got in the pits, lifted the nose and found that the blokes who did the alignment didn't tighten everything properly - annoying... Fastened it and went back on track with the alignment way out. The car turned left like a champ, but didn't do so well going right haha

Managed to run with people that are in the class I'm planning to compete in, so really happy about that. Very chuffed with how the car behaved

That looks intense :D your tracking is way off :O its quite dangerous not to tighten the nuts after doing alignment! Didn't take you long to get her out on the track. What bhp is it running at the wheels? Overall im highly impressed with this and super jealous!

It's in the region of about 90hp on the wheels. Not much, but that is the upper limit for my car's weight in my class

Nah it was straight when the day started.

I'll see if I can post a video where it decides to go wonky

You'll see as we head up the hill the wheel is still pretty straight, then after that it is suddenly not. It was pulling left like a communist if you let go of the steering haha

Farted around a bit in the garage tonight. First did the harness up the way a scrutineer advised, then set about making the rear anti-roll bar stiffer. Also tightened up the bolts properly after the alignment.

While I was stripping the car, I found these in the dash:

Immediately had a plan to use them (eventually). So tonight I finally put the plan into action:
Image

Brake ducts!

Don't have too much to still do in order to be completely ready:
- Get some tiny split pins for 2 of the harness buckles
- Install the cable for the cut-off switch with the appropriate sticker
- Wire-tie the oil filter
- Change the sump plug to one that can be wire-tied
- Replace the broken bumper
- Get proper brackets for the extinguishers
- Find and install studs and nuts to replace the wheel bolts
- Make that bloody ignition/starter panel work. Might have to consult an auto electrician about that
- Apply the vinyls once they are ready (Kindly sponsored by Creative Identity )

Really getting excited (or is that nervous) about the first race meeting.

My wife asks me 'So - any tactics for the first race?'

I replied 'Yup - gonna try to not do something stewpit'.

Hope I manage to do that haha
