Me and my uncle were talking today and the supercharger topic cropped up, we then were thinking of would it work in the b and looked at peices of a merc c class supercharger you can get them for 180 ish so thats feesable, wondering if anyone else has heard of it and know of things we'd need to do, we have the rough idea but not sure if theres anything special about doing it to a b

I seen a honda crx del sol, the guy took out the aircon pump and basically replaced it with a supercharger so that he used the same belt.

Maybe remove power steering pump and get the supercharger to sit somewhere it can run off that belt

It dont have power steering or air con, we were thinking of running it from the bottom pulley

But if you got a belt for a power steering model, then weld in the bracket where a power steering pump WOULD go, then the new belt should run the supercharger :D it just has to be lined up perfect

But what would you gain from supercharging your power steering

It has to be connected to the crank I would have thought

I dont know much about it tbh Johnny but i think as long as a belt is driving the supercharger and the charger is plumbed into all the right places it will work. A supercharger is powered by a belt whereas a turbo is powered by exhaust fumes

Like i know for a fact that a b16a2 dohc vtec crx can be supercharged by just removing the air con pump, welding a bracket and bolting in the supercharger so that the pullys line up perfect, running the supercharger to the right places (not gonna lie, I dont know where they are plumbed up to) and installing a front mount and blow off valve. (Brought it from 170bhp to 230bhp)

But my thinking (and it is just thoughts) is that it'd need to be on the crank so the faster your engine is turning the faster the crank moves so the the faster the supercharger spins but I am just guessing this is how it works I've never seen one close enough to see

That sounds logical!! But on a sir vtec engine would the air con be ran off the same belt the crank is run off?

Yes Johnny your right it does need to run off the crank, but is the power steering belt not on a pulley that is connected to the crank no?

Do you think it would be that hard to do then?

Definatley be hard, the pulley has to line up 100% accurate, front mount intercooler, all the custom made pipes and everything
