Well I've been putting it off for a while but I finally decided to bite the bullet and fix my head gasket. I found a 94 1.2 8v corsa an hour away from me so went and pulled the head off it for €40. The reason I got a second head is because I can't live without my car at the moment, and it was only €40 so it wasn't too expensive.
I dropped the head straight into a local machine shop to get it skimmed and to get the bolts and gaskets. So far it's cost me €90. Now I just need to get oil, a new filter and coolant.
I'm going to borrow my moms car tomorrow and run off to Halfords to get the last few things, and if things go according to plan have the heads swapped and the car running by 3pm. The only problem I might have is the new head has a distributer cap, and my original head has a coil pack... If needs be I'll take a trip to a scrap yard and pull out a distributer to swap in.
