Vauxhall and motorsport on British circuits up and down the land is a well chartered affair. The same can be said of rallying, hills and sprints as well as the popularity of short track oval motor racing on both grass and tarmac. Drag racing has the Performance Vauxhall Show to boost its branding on the drag strip and the quarter mile.

The first Vauxhall based drag event to be held at Long Marston Airfield’s Shakespeare County Raceway was held eight years ago with a hot mix of tricked out modified Vauxhall’s, modern and contemporary classics taking to the track. The years popular range of Astra’s, Cavalier’s and Nova’s also held there own on the quarter mile. Well it’s making a come back to the Warwickshire venue on Saturday 21st April as part of Shakespeare County Raceway’s all clubs Public Track Day weekends.

Vauxhall clubs and enthusiasts are welcome to come along and display for next to no cost to your club other than the raceway’s general admission of £12 per person. Vauxhall club members can also test there cars overall performance on the day by entering the track’s Run What Ya Brung. This form of competition will determine who really has the quickest and the fastest Vauxhall of the day, and for £20 you can make as many timed runs as you want. You’ll even get a certificate of speed at the end of each run completed. All you will need to bring is a crash helmet and a driver’s licence. We can even run an interclub Vauxhall Drag War competition if there is enough interest. Fans and enthusiasts can also make a weekend of it and compete or spectator at the Custom Chrome Cherry Bomb Challenge on the Sunday.
