Good insurance companies for young drivers...

Post by iTonehh »

I'm in the process of taking my driving lessons (theory booked) and should hopefully pass pretty soon, I'm 18 atm (19 in september) and for me to get insured on a 1.2 Corsa in 3rd party on most comparison sites it's always well over £1800 a year, this normal or should I be able to find cheaper?

i'm in the exact same position mate am 16 (17 at the end of the week) and looking to insure ma 1.2 sxi on a provisional licence and im lookin at bout 1200 and when i pass at least 2000

oh and by the way, something they dont tell you- the more quotes you get from the same site/company the more the price goes up, i got my very first quote on a provisional it was 540 and 1200 after passing, but now they have both doubled,

the moral of this storie- when you buy your insurence either ring up or use a different email address and u'll get a cheaper quote ( it works for me)
OFFICAL DVLA DATA:
1414 - corsa gsi's on the road in 2008.
735 - corsa gsi's currently on the road and 436 SORN
Basicly you would have to be a right tw*t to break one for parts

Thanks to everyone for an awsome weekend at pvs!

I was planning on phoning up anyways, as I had a feeling that something stupid like that went on, I'll most likely get it insured on my mums boyfriend with me as named driver, as he has 22 years no claims. ^^

I wish I could manage to insure it for £1,100 a year lol, it costs more than that to just have me as a named driver on it.

I'm with Tesco, my own policy, im 17 on an x-reg 1.0 corsa fully comp at £18K a year, i dont think thats bad at all. Managed to blag 'em for a years no-claims from my scooter though, so that lowered it a fair bit.

I would advise taking the pass plus course aswell, that lowers it up to 30% i think. Also gives you some good experience, £150 and you can't fail unless you like crash or owt haha.

I got rid of the 1.2 Corsa I was trying to get insured on when I first made this topic, instead decided to go with the 1.5 Diesel, I am however debating taking the advanced courses.

Just make sure ur insurance company will take pass plus - im with swiftcover and they dont take it. Its worth doing it anyway though for the experience and safety issue

And im paying 1150 quid a year as a named driver on my dads insurance which is rather a lot
