Anybody here declare their mods? lol
Just wondering, it would be interesting to know how many people here actually declare mods on their insurance and peoples opinions on it...
I, for one, have about 14k worth of mods on mine and my insurance thinks its standard.... lol

That'll be handy next time you decide to go 70mph in a 30 zone and end up wrapped around a tree.
14k straight down the drain.
There is a reason why companies ask you to declare your mods, not doing so is totally irresponsible, but then again, so is 14k worth of mods on a car that will most likely either: 1) get sold for a fraction of that price...or 2) get crashed.

Re: Anybody here declare their mods? lol
i bought it like that, for like you said a fraction of the price.
but anyways, i checked how much the insurance would be if i declared all the mods, and only one company would insure me....for....wait for it.....10 grand!! so technically as long as i dont crash into somebody i have saved like 9 grand by lying. just have to be careful. anybody else not declared their mods?

Re: Anybody here declare their mods? lol
only one mod and its declared
my advice is tell them about your mods
especialy if u have 14k worth of mods since if it gets stolen and u can only get £500 back for it, your not going to be happy

i see where you're coming from but at the end of the day i'm only 19 and like i said, it would have cost 10k to insure it with mods. i only paid 2,500 for the car and i've not done much more to it. i dont see the point in paying 10 grand lol. unless i crash into a ferrari.... oh dear jail for me!

problem is if you have mods not declared techicly your not insured so if u crash your insurance wont pay out and you up sh1t creek without a paddle especialy if its your fault!

Octane2097 is 100% right. If they're not declared, your not insured!
My car has all it's mods declared. (Not that there's any performance enhancing ones, yet)

Re: Anybody here declare their mods? lol
All mods declared on Corsa, engine change and everthing (also changed on logbook).
If you go to a specalist broker etc you don't get too badly hammered. Not worth running the risk of not declaring them imo.

well lucky you! i think you're forgetting how much my car has been modified, and i'm only 19. like i said, only one company agreed to insure me and that was for 10k.....so i dont really have a choice. just have to be careful and not drive like a bellend

Re: Anybody here declare their mods? lol
Not trying to be funny here m8 but it seemslike you have just made this thread to brag about how your car is uninsured. Quite simply u might aswell of saved the rest of the money and just not bothered with the insurance at all. I can see yourpoint but that really is your problem for buying sucha heavily modified car when your so young. When ur that age you shud be working on little cheap mods that wont affect your insurance, not total car conversions.
And as a side note my m8 has done exactly the same thing but because he drove a bit quick around his local roads, he got reported and now the police have decalered his car uninsured until he declares all his mods which is gonna cost a bomb to do.

Easy now i'm not THAT cool. I made this thread cos i was interested to see if i was the only one doing this, and how likely it is that i'll end up in trouble.
