****PICS HAVE COME OUT TOO BIG REALLY - WILL WORK ON EDITING THEM SOON****

OK - If you are considering putting an install in your car, and would like to maximise its potential, one of the main things to consider is sound deadening.

To a lot of people Sound Deadening means Dynamat, and Dynamat means money - however if i told you there was a way to sound deaden your car fully for under £35 would you be interested - i bet you would ;)

The secret lies at your local DIY shop (homebase and focus 100% sell it - not sure about wickes\'s, b and q etc - however its likely.) The product is \"Marley Sealtite\" or \"Aquaseal flashing\". It is roofers flashing tape, and is bitumen backed foil, similar to (but lots thinner than) Dynamat Xtreme. It costs £15-18 per 23.5 cu ft roll. It needs 2-3 layers to work as well as 1 layer of Dynamt Xtreme, so work on 10 cu ft per roll. Dynamat Xtreme is £249.99 for 36 cuft ;) Still 1/5th of the cost.

OK - lets look at the fitting of it shall we?

Here are some piccies i took on Sat while doing the van.

Here i am going to install onto the panel at the bottom with the 2 big holes in it.

Ensure the surface has been cleaned of all dust etc with a cloth or similar.

Here i had some residue of sound deadening from the factory and i remove it mechanically.

This is what you buy - and what it looks like in a rol.....

Cut it with a SHARP stanley or craft knife.

Remove the adhesive backing as shown.

In cold weather especially heat gently with a hairdryer. You will see the bitumen getting more \"pock marked\" when ready to apply. This affect varies - you will also notice the piece is more compliant.

Apply ensuring good connection to the panel. And smooth off.

And work into the corners.

Add smaller pieces to fill the panel as needed

Add a top layer of as large pieces as poss to finish.

Then go and have a beer to celebrate ;)
