Guidance

Post by MattR »

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere I couldn't find a thread for it.
I'm looking at buying a 1.2 16v auto 5 door and was after any tips on what to look out for.
I've had to make a new account as I've totally forgotten my old details.
I have owned a B in the past but a lot of time has passed since than any help is much appreciated.

Back end tends to rot around the spring seats, especially the passenger side, sills are common aswell as the b pillar more so on sunroof models

1.2 16v are very reliable, problems are only sensors tbh maf, egr, icv, cam and crankshaft sensors but there cheapish to replace

If it starts up quick and feels good it's unlikely there will be hidden gremlins

Don't do auto box's but I'd imagine as long as it changes smooth and when it's ment to its fine
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

Thanks for the advise.
Purchased the car in the end.
Was pleasantly surprised in change of spec from my K ref merit to this cdx
Car had new MOT with no advisories and has only failed once in its life on small niggley bits.
Auto box is as to be expected. Does what's needed.
It's certainly not going to be winning any drag races or have a high top speed but to get me mobile and from a-b again it will do nicely.
