Hahaha cheers lads.

A few bits and bobs. Been busy with jobs on the house so not done much this week on the car. My starter and alternator turned up along with my aux belt pulley.

My big block hubs were looking a bit rusty on the back side of them, so I gave them a good going over with the wire brush and a lick of paint and then fitted them along with Audi A80 wheel bearings to my freshly powder coated machined out knuckles. No more worry about fracturing wheel hubs :)

Made a start on getting the bits in order to complete the steering rack. Got the shorter body Compbrake TRE's, so a quick measure up shows that no cutting is needed.

Image
Image
Image

I also drilled the hubs out to remove the standard tapered hole so I can fit the Compbrake TRE bolts. Drilled out to 12.7mm if anyone is interested.

Image
Image
Image

My intercooler hoses turned up. I just offered them up to confirm they fit width wise.

Image
Image
Image

I also found that the coolant hose for the turbo stuck out a touch too far for my setup and was very close to the radiator so I nipped to my local Pirtek and they cut about 15mm off and re-crimped a new olive on so clearance is good now.

Image
Image

Made a quick cardboard mock up of an Odyssey 25 battery. The size is good for under the scuttle.

Image

Moved the outside temp sensor to just under the filter. Gives an idea of engine bay temps at the point of the air entering the filter.

Image
Image

I've managed to get a bit more done on the wiring. Loom 2 of 4 is now done.

Post Billing kick up the arse lol. I've not been for a couple of years and had a fantastic weekend. Need to sort this for next year. There's not loads to do, it's just finding time with work commitments is hard.

I popped in the garaged to unload the car after Billing and took a snap at it.

Image

Got most of the wiring complete now. Sorry for some dark pics. My phone is fooked.

Image
Image
Image

I've started on tidying up the engine loom.

Image

And stripped it to find this on the coolant temp sensor plug. Rough!!!!!!!

Image
Image

Fixed that.

Image

It just needs the AVCR wiring adding to it and then I'll wrap it :)

Image

Got the alternator built up and fitted that.

Image
Image

Fitted the bias dial to the dash for the pedal box.

Image
Image

At Billing I've been looking at people's VIN plates on all the old Nova's. They was all done with vinyl lettering on carbon then lacquered. I wanted something a bit different so I knocked up how I wanted mine to look and searched the net. I found a top bloke online that has made a fantastic job of engraving into the carbon and in filling the engraved wording with paint.

Image
Image
Image

Also my F28 gearbox plate was in a sorry state so I asked if he could do that too. He did :)

Image
Image
Image

And they turned up in the post.

Drive shafts and CV joints today. They've been stored for a long time now. They haven't done many miles but the casings were looking poo. Also the shafts were a bit scuffed up to. So the drill, wire brush, degreaser and spit can come out :)

Also gave the fuel vent valve bracket and the hot start valve a quick dusting :)

Got the freshly painted CV's and shafts built up and fitted today along with the top mounts, shocks and one side with the hub, disk and calliper :)

As for the top mounts. I was supplied the round solid mounts off Compbrake but I found that they didn't fit without modifications to the underside of the turret. There was no way I was cutting the car so I drew up how I wanted them and gave the drawings to Klint @ Compbrake and he got them manufactured for me ;)

This type doesn't fit without cutting the shell or shaving the top mount down.

Image

My design fits spot on.

Image

On the car.

Image
Image
Image
Image

I just need to sort some smaller depth nylocks so I have some thread sitting proud. They are a bit to flush for my liking.

Image
Image

Also will get a new nut for the ball joint... It's looking a bit poo that one lol.

Image
Image
Image

And the brakes are on one side :)

Image
Image
Image
Image

And I had to try a wheel one for the camera lol.

Don't know whether I hate you or love you. I want this corsa more than I want my lass. That's no comparison though. It's the cleanest and best thread and corsa I've ever came across

So... I've been away for a while now and the car hasn't been touched at all. The past month or so I've had abit of time so I got stuck it and this has happened :)

Plug and play loom with built in AVCR Boost controller.
Image
Image

Found a 5th Comp :)
Image

Carry on wiring.

Back onto the car.

MK2 Astra Hazard switch install and the rest of the wiring finished.

BMW sump plug is a perfect fit for the inlet if you fit a bias pedal box.
Image

Bumper cut. I got a spare one incase I messed up. First ones good so I'll be getting this one painted.

I took a gamble and purchased a carbon splitter off a mate. It was one of the group buys off this site from a while back but was never fitted. The mold isn't the best and it was a ball ache to fit straight. But I'm quite happy with it. It just needs flatting back and re-lacquering as that is shocking.
Image
Image
Image
Image

Also set out to make a bracket for the 004 pump in order to fit it to the chassis leg. That's now a the powder coaters.
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Knock up seat adapters with runners for my seats that sit me lower down.
Image
Image

And sent the last bits to the powder coaters.
Image

On with fitting the oil cooler.
Image

Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Ready for boost hahaha.
Image

Broke a mates car and claimed the gearbox (64k miles with a quafie diff) and spare side skirts, bumper and most importantly all 4 jacking covers. Having 3 bumpers now I'm classing myself as a hoarder.
Image
Image

And its on its wheels!
Image

I dusted the wings and bonnet off and fitted them.
Image
Image

Then had a tidy up in the garage and gave it it first wash, polish and wax in a bloody long time hahahahaha.

I'm off back to Saudi next week so I'll be back on it when I get home.

I've just sat an read almost your whole thread mate. Stunning car and the attention to detail is top notch. Keep up the good work. The seats I have would look stunning in that interior of your car. Blue sparco corsa fixed seats.

Cheers for the comments lads. I wouldn't be a fan of blue seat in this car. I've already got my seats :) ... But nice one :)

Update... I had abit of time so the cover came off and a few more bits done.

Dusted the inside off.

Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

The the hard part... I had to come to terms with trimming the Turbo cover for the strut brace. I'm happy with it though. I know it looks MILES better uncut but needs must.

Image
Image

PC545 Battery fitted in the scuttle area.

Image
Image
Image

I needed another swirlpot with a -8 fitting on the bottom as my one had a -6 so my mate at Compbrake sorted me out with on. Only issue is I'd drilled the floor to my old pot so he had to sort one with the same base as the old.

Had ago with my new battery charger/conditioner.

Image

New HT leads turned up from Formular Power. I can honestly say the bloke was spot on. No extra charge for the longer coil lead. And the quality looks really good.

Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Jacked it up and started the dreaded drilling for the fuel fitting. I'm really happy how it turned out. But I didn't like doing it on fresh paint lol.

Filters fitted and as showing on previous pages I made a bracket to fit the Bosch 044 to the chassis leg.

Image

Thats it for now. Next job when I've got time is make the fuel hose's to length with the fittings.
