Inlet power box

Post by v6matt »

I'm thinking of getting an inlet box but I'm not sure. Are they worth it for the money, is the power gain noticeable is there anything else needed?

Yes there worth it, the x14xe and x16xe inlets are very constricted

The power gained won't be much with it on its own but you should notice it pulling much better after 3.5k that's when both cams have a sort of vtec effect and spin at optimum performance

If you where planing on doing anything else to the engine the powerbox ups the gains of the other parts
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

So what other mods should I do to get the benefit of the power box?

The tried and tested method for very good gains on them engines is powerbox, cams, 4-2-1 or 4-1 manifold with decat and a decent exhaust with either a race tube or straight through silencer in the middle and a straight through back box

That kind of set can see anywhere 130+ depending on what parts you use people have dyno'd the x14xe at 145, that's 2.0 power from a 1.4
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

All the normal mod's then. What sort of cams are you thinking about, after market or ones from the vauxhall range. I'm use to my v6 vectra and know there are a few combinations of cams for them depending on if you want torque or bhp.

I'd go aftermarket, Kent are known for being good, it's up to you what stage cams you go for
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway
