1.4 sport tuning?

Post by v6matt »

I've got myself a 1.4 sport (picking her up tuesday) and I've not had any dealings with corsa's for about 9 years. What mods/tuning should I be looking to do, and where's the best places to get the parts.

As said eBay. Or on here or corsa sport. I'm on both forums as things pop up everywhere. I've got bits knocking about all the time but nothing really for tuning. But someone is always selling or breaking a corsa on the forums

8 or 16v?
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

16v. It has a busted spring on the front and it looks like original tractor hight springs so a set of lowering springs will be high on the list, as well as new front disks and pads.

There very tunable engines and can reach very high bhp figures, but after basic mods like intake, exhaust and manifold and cams it becomes very expensive

Cams, speaking of, how often is the Cambelt due? She's on 99k miles and I think it was last done around 70k.
Also, what is the cam upgrade?

The power box I had on mine is a bolt on for the 1.4 as well adds abou 15bho to the 1.4 and makes it sound totally different. Has low down pull and all through the revs. Mine went through the limiter and bounced at about 7000 rpm with this on

Around every 40k or 4-5 years

Camshaft itself you just buy an aftermarket brand like Kent or dblis and it'll add torque and either low or high end power depending on your chosen cam

You can also buy vieners and fit a 1.6 or 1.8 head and adjust the timing to suit, it's a way of quickly getting power and torque cheaply
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

Yeah if suggest diablous for pullies and piper cams. That's what I had as well and they were spot on!! Instant power from stand still at tick over revs. No matter what cams they'll probably need resimmed depending on how much wear the engine has from its life

Never had ac to the shell but the tigra donar car did. When this was in it had
No ac no power steering. Ac is only an optional extra so just find the reg of a car that matches that spec when ordering parts. Easy job. Cams pullies power box egr blank and a superchip. Your onto a winner

Tbh is lose the power steering it's a better drive and you might have to. Depending on the donar car. Tigers which are obviously newer have electric power steering the older bs like I had originally had hydraulic and doing the conversion to get them working is near impossible. That's why you never see a redtop with power steering. It's better without anyways feels more of a proper drive and responsive
