horn sounding when unlocking

Post by chris477 »

Hi all. I'm not having much luck with my b.

Yesterday when I unlocked my car the horn beeped twice.
And was fine until it did it again this morning.

Anyone know what it could be?

Thanks

I know some transits beep the horn when you lock it and the doors not shut right.

Central locking only or alarm as well?

And is it standard or aftermarket?

If it's remote central locking it's aftermarket if it's on the key then it's standard.

There's a short somewhere no idea where it could be. Look for any obvious damage to the cables. If you've got a Haynes look through the wiring diagrams to see where the two circuits can cross.

If you have a fob to unlock it remote I would wager the battery's need changing. Jags beep the horn when the fob battery is dying.

Tbh if it's annoying you that much just f**k the horn off. Pair of snips and some insulation and you sorted

Not sure if the horn and central locking are on the same circuit
Might have a wiring diagram somewhere from when I worked for
Vauxhall I will have a look tomorrow

But Defoe sounds like you have a short somewhere

It's only when I turn the key. Not remote.

I'll try and have a look to see if I can find a short.

Thank's guys

Image

Looks pin 10 on central locking ecu sends ignition live to the horn
So without seeing the car I would say the short is on that side
It could be the looking control ecu

If you can't find any obvious damage The central locking ecu is in the passenger footwell behind the kick panel remove that and move the ecu out the way and you can get to them c/l ecu. You can do insulation resistance tests between the wires then or even just set it to beep when I makes a circuit. I'll take pics of the wiring diagrams and message you them mate.

Where are you?

Ohh thanks. It hasnt done it since then, so maybe its a one off.
But theres got to be a reason why it did it in the first place.

There is a reason. It's a corsa. They're quirky old things. Mine pretty much has a mind of its own if it's not the pedals, steering or gearbox your not in control of it and if it's not causing a problem don't stress on it haha
